The Client

Aloa is a bootstrapped software outsourcing startup with a team of 7. They help startups and mid-sized companies match with vetted offshore development agencies around the world.

The Challenge

Aloa was ready to shift from referral-based growth to a sustainable inbound strategy. Their goal: scale content production to 100 SEO-driven articles per month. But with no hiring playbook and a small team, they lacked the systems to do it effectively — or at scale.

What I Did

Content Operations

  • Process Mapping: I audited the existing production process by shadowing current writers and testing the workflow myself for a month. I documented gaps, delays, and misalignments.
  • Workflow Optimization:
    • Reduced writer wait times between assignments by 3+ hours
    • Created content briefs to improve task clarity and reduce revision loops
    • Built a knowledge base to keep SOPs, tools, and expectations up to date

Hiring and Onboarding

  • Increased Vetting Protocols: Introduced a paid sample test to evaluate writer quality before hire, helping us avoid AI-generated or low-effort submissions.
  • Onboarding Ramp+ Kickoff Call: Created a Loom-based onboarding series and a curriculum assessment to ensure new writers ramped up quickly.
